Peter Sandbichler
Peter Sandbichler was born in 1964 in Kufstein, Tyrol, Austria. From 1979 to 1983 he attended the Technical School for Wood and Stone Sculpture in Innsbruck. He then completed a year at the Art Students League in New York with the sculptor Martin Knox. He subsequently studied at the University (then College) of Applied Arts in Vienna with Wander Bertoni from 1984 to 1986 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Bruno Gironcoli from 1986 to 1991. From 1993 to 1994 he completed postgraduate studies at the Institute for New Media with Peter Weibel in Frankfurt am Main. In 1995 he participated in the 46th Biennale di Venezia, Italy, in the Austrian pavilion. From 1996 to 1997, a scholarship enabled him to spend several months in Tokyo, Japan. Sandbichler has participated internationally in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including 2005 at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, 2006 at the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg, Germany and the Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland, 2009 and 2010 at the Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien (mumok) and 2009 and 2018 at the MUSA Museum auf Abruf Vienna, 2010 at the Biennale Lichtkunst, Linz and 2019 for Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Niederösterreich, St. Pölten. The artist is a member of the Association of Visual Artists, Vienna Secession. Peter Sandbichler lives and works in Vienna.
