Artwork text

In the multi-part installation “Raum der Büglerin”, Bauer suggestively relates everyday objects to one another, all of which he has reworked. He condenses real objects, language, form and space and hints at their possible significance for the construction of aspects of a woman's everyday reality. A Christian cross shows deep plaster casts of the clasping of a hand. The work surface of the ironing board is partially painted red and allows associations with the menstrual cycle, in which women are just as trapped as in the traditional duties of a household. Bauer stages the everyday situation of a woman and reveals a political aspect. (Doris Leutgeb)
