Artwork text
The print shows three video stills of the artist’s glottis, shot with a probe while speaking the words grausam (cruel), Lust (pleasure), and einsam (lonely). The respective word has been embossed under each still. EXPORT, known for her feminist actions and performances, often involving the extreme use of her own body, has repeatedly explored language in relation to the body. An extension of her Finger Poem of the 1970s, this print demonstrates the discrepancy between spontaneous oral speech and the written word.
