Werner Feiersinger
Werner Feiersinger was born in 1966 in Brixlegg, Tyrol, Austria. From 1984 to 1989 he studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Wander Bertoni and Ernst Caramelle, where he graduated from the master class in sculpture. In 1991-1993 he continued his studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. He completed residencies abroad as artist in residence in Chicago, USA in 1991, Rotterdam, NL in 1993-1995, and Rome, IT in 2015.
In 1999 Feiersinger was a guest lecturer at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, 2002-2006 a university lecturer at the Technical University in Vienna, and from 2006 to 2008 and 2022 a visiting professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2001 the artist received the Förderpreis of the province of Tyrol, and in 2004 he was awarded the Kunstpreis of the Raiffeisen Landesbank Tirol. In 2013 he was awarded the Tyrolean Provincial Prize for Contemporary Art. His sculptures in public space can be seen in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. The artist works as a sculptor and photographer. Together with his brother Martin, an architect, he has spent many years intensively studying post-war architecture in northern Italy. The two have comprehensively researched modernism, which has fallen into oblivion, and documented it in publications that have won awards for their outstanding design. Werner Feiersinger lives and works in Vienna.
