Hannah Wilke
Hannah Wilke was born Arlene Hannah Butter in 1940 in New York, USA. From 1956 to 1961 she attended the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. From 1972 to 1991 she taught sculpture at the School of Visual Arts, New York and founded a department of ceramic design. In 1976 the National Endowment for Arts awarded the artist a prize for sculpture and in 1980 for performance. In 1982 she received a Fellowship John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Hannah Wilke passed away in 1993 in Houston, Texas, USA.
