Carola Dertnig

Carola Dertnig was born in 1963 in Innsbruck, Austria. From 1987 to 1991 she studied at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna and in 1990 at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1992 she graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. 1997-1998 she participated in the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York. In 2005-2006 she was a visiting professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since 2006 she has headed the Performing Arts Department at the University of Fine Arts Vienna and taught as a visiting professor at CAL ARTS in Los Angeles in 2008. Carola Dertnig received the Innsbruck Art Prize in 2006, the City of Vienna Prize for Visual Arts in 2007 and the Tyrolean State Art Prize in 2009. She lives and works in Vienna.
