    From 10/28 to 12/09/2005
Place of exhibition: Galerija Klovićevi dvori, Zagreb, HR
The exhibition in Zagreb was organized by the Generali Foundation Vienna in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb.

Curator: Sabine Breitwieser (Director Generali Foundation) in collaboration with Tihomir Milovac (Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb).

The third venue of the international exhibition tour opened in Zagreb. Under the title "Occupying Space," the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb presented the Generali Foundation Collection at the Klovicevi dvori Gallery.

With "Occupying Space. Generali Foundation Collection," the Museum of Contemporary Art in the center of Zagreb continued its series of exhibitions of high-caliber international collections. Until 2007, before the opening of the new museum building then under construction, the presentation of important collections was one of the main activities of the Zagreb Museum. Among others, the prominent collection of the Parisian Museé National d'Art Moderne from the Centre Pompidou was shown in this exhibition series.

Since the late 1980s, the Generali Foundation builds up a highly respected collection of contemporary art. At that time, it contained 1.700 works by 160 different artists. One of its unique features is the focus on concept art and performance art, as well as socio-critical works of the 1960s/1970s. Its core consists of central works by Austrian artists, which are juxtaposed with international works and linked with those of a younger generation. Since 2002, major works by artists from Central Eastern Europe have been increasingly acquired. With this exhibition tour, the collection had been presented for the first time in such a comprehensive form outside of Austria.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb was founded in 1954 as Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art. From the beginning, it took over the responsibilities of a museum with a growing collection. For the series of exhibitions presenting various collections, the museum cooperated with the nearby Klovicevi dvori Gallery.
