At present, the library contains approx. 14,500 monographs, exhibition catalogues, in-depth reference books, and international art journals. Prominence is given to artists featured in the collection and the exhibition productions of the Generali Foundation. In addition, the library provides a comprehensive overview of contemporary art since the 1960s with particular emphasis on contemporary developments. Not only current, but also important and rare historical publications are acquired through selective purchase. The Generali Foundation also regularly exchanges materials with well-known international art institutions.

The media library, which is accessible to the public at the Study Center, constitutes a crucial component of our collection: visitors may individually access the complete film and video collection, with works by artists such as Gottfried Bechtold, VALIE EXPORT, Dan Graham, Harun Farocki, Elke Krystufek, Gordon Matta-Clark, Martha Rosler, Heimo Zobernig, and many others. Visitors are able to access documentation of events held at the Generali Foundation since the 1990s—lectures, symposia, conversations with the artists, guided tours, and performances—via two terminals at the Study Center. These materials will invite in-depth research into the cultural memory of our time.
