Wendelien van Oldenborgh was born in Rotterdam in 1962. She studied at Goldsmiths College in London and École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After graduation, she lived for several years in Belgium and Germany. In her installations, slide projections, and videos, she examines political, social, and cultural relations in our society and their effects. In 2009/2010 she was a visiting professor for art and communicative practice at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and is currently a docent in the Master’s program for artistic research at the KABK in Den Haag. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions, for example, at FRAC Lorraine, Metz (1999), MuHKA, Antwerp (2008), Tent, Rotterdam (2008), worthy of note are her participation in the 11th Istanbul Biennial (2009), 29th Sao Paulo Biennial (2010), and the 54th Venice Biennial (2011). The artist lives and works in Rotterdam.
