Michael Fliri was born in Schlanders, Italy in 1978. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, and the Kunstakademie in Bergen from 1999 to 2006. He works in the fields of performance, video, photography, and sculpture. The “metamorphosis” that the artist carries out on himself, as protagonist, is the basic theme of his performances. In such transformations, he usually also includes the environment. The results, which he documents on video, are frequently illogical in an ironic way. Solo exhibitions of the artist have taken place at the Museion, Bolzano (2011) and at the Centro Pecci in Prato, Italy (2011). In 2009 he participated in the 3rd Moscow Biennial. Michael Fliri lives and works in Vienna and Taufers in Münstertal, Italy.
