The Generali Foundation Study Center presents its facilities: the Study Gallery and Reading Room with the Franz West-Lounge the floor above it. Before the center is ready to be open for research activities in fall, all of the rooms will used to present selected objects from the archive and library, video art, films and works from the Generali Foundation Collection, on permanent loan to the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, and illustrated books and sound art from the museum's own collection.

Here in the Study Gallery we are presenting the inauguration exhibition Rediscoveries and New Acquisitions. 140 Years of Art in the Generali Foundation Study Center. The exhibits presented in four table vitrines are organized according to different themes supported by selected works on the walls. The first vitrine features books in which language and text are used as an artistic medium. This is followed by a presentation of selected publications that involve reproduction techniques—from letterpress printing to video recording. The multimedia magazine Aspen, published in the 1960s and 1970s, the subject of the third vitrine, contains a wealth of texts on art and theory, together with records, films, and even sculptures. The final vitrine has a selection of publications relating to art and music. On the walls we will be showing prints from the 1940s by the artists Jean Arp, Sonia Delaunay, Alberto Magnelli, and Sophie Taeuber-Arp.

In the Reading Room next to the Study Gallery you can enjoy a selection of videos and works from the postproduction edition published by the Generali Foundation. The Franz West-Lounge is furnished with benches, chairs and tables designed by the artist Franz West together with Marcus Geiger, Peter Kogler, and Heimo Zobernig. Currently this space is used to to discover a selection from the Generali Foundation video collection.

The office of the Generali Foundation Study Center, which can be reached from the atrium, is pleased to welcome you. We are happy to answer further questions or accept your registration for your studies. We look forward to your visit.
